ABOUT POTTERY 51
Pottery 51 is a cooperative arts center dedicated to the continuation of North Carolina’s rich pottery tradition in Mint Hill, North Carolina; providing facilities for students, potters and clay artists to expand and nurture their creative expression and artistic skills. It is unique in the Charlotte metro area in that it is the only non-profit clay studio whose primary focus is nurturing ceramics artists by providing affordable studio space and by promoting artists’ works in its gallery. Pottery 51 is an integral part of the Mint Hill arts community.
The facility, located at 7714C Matthews-Mint Hill Road, is an active and vibrant arts center, fostering enthusiasm for clay arts through studio space, classes, workshops, exhibits, special events and services to the community. Participation is open to potters and clay artists from novice to professional as well as public friends of the arts.
Pottery 51 is the only clay studio in the metro area whose primary focus is to support the growth of studio clay artists, currently providing workspace, equipment and kilns for twenty-four different potters and sculptors who reside in the Mint Hill area. We provide a cooperative working experience where the sharing of knowledge and ideas is openly encouraged.
